AI and consumer behavior: A New Look at the Challenges in the Era of ChatGPT.

This talk highlights the rapidly changing dynamics of consumer behavior in interactions with artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models such as ChatGPT. Beginning with an introduction to AI and the rise of natural forms of interaction, the talk focuses on the impact of these developments on consumer behavior. It critically examines the resulting challenges for data protection and highlights the need for responsible and transparent data use in this technologically advanced environment.

Anne Scherer

Anne Scherer is an assistant professor at the University of Zurich and co-founder of Delta Labs AG, where she specializes in consumer psychology and technology. Her goal is to bridge the gap between technologies and their users.

Anne co-authored the book “You & AI” with Cindy Candrian, published in April this year, which is a testament to her commitment to promoting AI literacy and “better tech”. She actively supports startups, businesses, and nonprofits as they move toward an AI-driven future and champions the concept of hybrid intelligence. Anne was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council, and her influential TEDxTalk on why we are more honest with machines has been viewed over 1.8 million times.

Before joining the University of Zurich, Anne conducted research at ETH Zurich and earned her PhD with honors from the Technical University of Munich. Away from work, she enjoys backpacking around the world.
